Description
Institutions continue to expand business and consumer offerings, providing low-cost, expedited funds transfer opportunities. While occurrences of ACH Fraud remain relatively low compared to other payment networks, some institutionsā offerings inherently open the door to potential fraud, creating large losses and positions of non-compliance with peripheral laws and requirements such as Regulation E or BSA.
In this session, weāll explore common fraud types and discuss the essential balance of ACH Rules with other requirements intended to combat fraud and money laundering, and to protect consumers. Positions of non-compliance are often due to an imbalance of the ACH Rules and other requirements.
In this session, attendees will:
– Assess common forms of ACH fraud related to consumers and when Regulation E requirements supersede the ACH Rules
– Discuss when an RDFI may need to investigate &\or prohibit deposits to comply with BSA/AML
– Record best practices when a business client suffers an Account Takeover
– Analyze current fraud trends with WEB debits and when ODFIs can be liable for losses for years
